Carol and Claude Czekaj
No longer "enjoying" the cold and snow of suburban Chicago, we made the move to perpetually sunny Surprise, Arizona as permanent residents in 2014. We loved our new surroundings very much, but were missing the type of parish connection we had so enjoyed and appreciated back home. The parishes in the West Valley just didn't "cut it" for us.
We attended Mass at The Casa only occasionally, but found we were being drawn closer by the warmth, spirituality, messages of inclusiveness and commitment to the community as a whole, all tied neatly together each week by the uplifting music and an occasional dancing Friar.
We gladly contributed to the building fund for the new church and also chose to become Tau members, where annual contributions are made to support the ongoing operations at The Casa. Last year, we attended the "Planning Your Legacy" workshop conducted by Mary Dunn. She helped in guiding us to think about how to share our life story with those we love and how to support causes that are dear to us. A logical next step for us was to join the LaVerna Society and made a legacy gift to the Casa's Endowment.
Our love for The Casa community continues to grow and we want others to experience that same joy in the future. With our gift, we hope to help enable The Casa to continue its many programs and services to the community, spread the word that God loves us all and, in so doing, to inspire future generations to follow the same path.
As we like to say about The Casa…We can't wait to get there and hate to leave!
